The curriculum is constantly evolving with input from the residents and as a group (faculty and residents) and annually review the curriculum in depth. We aim to improve our training experiences to meet the future needs of our residents and their patients, using the widening circle of resources that become available to us.
The Pacific Northwest is a fabulous place to train as a Family Physician, both for the mountains, ski slopes, water and city offerings, as well as the tradition of strong Family Doctors who practice full spectrum primary care. Our graduates tend to enter community practice settings, where inpatient medicine, obstetrics, ICU medicine and new model medical home primary care is the standard of practice. While in our program, residents have the opportunity to elect to participate in our Areas of Concentration (AOC’s): Addiction Medicine, Maternal-Child Health, Gynecology, Sports Medicine, Rural Medicine, Political Activism, and Global Health. Most of all, we operate this program like a large healthy family, with full participation of residents, faculty and staff to make our work together as meaningful and enjoyable as possible. You will be very impressed with the environment we have all created together at Swedish.
