HIV Medicine AOC
The HIV Area of Concentration is a longitudinal experience that prepares residents to provide HIV care and serve as a clinical resource within their community for the care of patients infected with HIV.
The AOC takes one junior resident from any Seattle clinic site each year. Residents will spend two years in the AOC and will work with frontline clinical staff at Country Doctor Community Clinic. Completion of the AOC may allow the resident to take the credentialing exam in HIV medicine offered by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
Junior residents will complete an online curriculum and work with frontline clinical staff. Senior residents will care for a panel of patients in a longitudinal clinic. Residents are expected to attend at least one national HIV care conference, complete 30 hours of online HIV curriculum, shadow providers on a regular basis as junior residents, and provide direct patient care on a regular basis as senior residents.
