Sea Mar

Sea Mar Community Health Center - Seattle is part of a large and successful community health center system dedicated to the care of the medically underserved and the Latinx population of Seattle. Sea Mar was founded in 1978 by a group of Latinx community leaders.

Sea Mar’s Seattle clinic, located in the South Park neighborhood, became the residency’s second continuity site, after the Cherry Hill Clinic, in 1987. Sea Mar was one of the first community health centers to partner with a residency in the country, and this pioneering collaborative effort continues to provide excellent training to residents.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Sea Mar is ideal for residents who desire to work with a multicultural, Latinx-rich community. Applicants to the Sea Mar site should have sufficient skills in Spanish to conduct a patient visit without the use of an interpreter, as well as a love for obstetrical training, pediatric care, and immersion into a dynamic community organization.

In-hospital rotations for Sea Mar residents are the same as for residents at the Swedish Cherry Hill clinic, while their ambulatory clinic practice takes place at Sea Mar Community Health Center.
